U197 | LOUIS XVI CHAIRS

Pair of Louis XVI style hand-carved mahogany fauteuils by George Jacob, a distinguished designer under the reign of Napoleon I. Newly reupholstered in a creamy gold-toned fabric, the chairs have a unique architectural schema to their decorative program. The chair-backs feature three Romanesque columns supporting a frieze with carved roundels at their base. The arms are straight and fluted and extend into tapered reeded column legs.

France, circa 1780
